Fermentation Technology for Mycophenolic acid
1. Product presentation
Mycophenolic acid (MA) – is low molecular weight biologically active compound. MA shows biological activity against Gramm+ bacteria, dermatophytic fungi, viruses [1, 2], and also renders selective immunosuppressant action.
Morpholinethylester(mycophenolate mofetil) is an active principle of a specialty of Hoffman-LaRoche named Cellcept and derived from mycophenolic acid. Mycophenolate mofetil has an increased bioavailability as compared to mycophenolic acid and thereby an improved therapeutic window. Currently, mycophenolate mofetil is indicated for prevention of organ rejection in transplant patients.

1.4 Use
Mycophenolic acid is mainly use as immunosuppressant. The mechanism of such activity is connected with selective inhibition of guanidine synthesis by mycophenolic acid.
